Persatuan Kebajikan Prihatin Kedah


The Masjid Al-Rahmah Bubur Asyura Cooking Competition 2024 (Pertandingan Kacau Bubur Asyura) held at the mosque grounds in Alor Setar on the July 20, 2024 successfully united the Muslim community of various races and backgrounds in a lively and harmonious atmosphere.

The competition, which was participated by 7 groups, saw the Persatuan Kebajikan Prihatin Kedah crowned as the champion, taking home a cash prize of RM500. 

The second place was won by the Raudhatul Ulum Group with a prize of RM300, while the Alor Setar Parliamentary Single Mothers Association came in third with a prize of RM200.



The Kedah State Government Exco for Agriculture, Plantations and Transportation, Dzowahir Ab. Ghani also attended to enliven the event. 

He praised the mosque's initiative in organizing such programs that can strengthen the relationship among the local multi-racial and multi-religious community.

"Programs like this are very significant in fostering unity and bridging the gap between communities. It is also the best platform for us to get to know each other's cultures and traditions," he said.


Raudhatul Ulum Group


The Imam and Chairman of Masjid Al-Rahmah, Ustaz Syawal Shafiee expressed his gratitude to the main sponsors such as Mediklinik Rakyat Dr Naim Alor Setar, Cakna Travel Kedah and Abu Rizki Travel Tours for their contributions and support in making this competition a success.

He also recorded his appreciation to all the staff, volunteers and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) involved such as the Malaysian Chinese Muslim Association (MACMA), Persatuan Kebajikan Prihatin Kedah, PERKIM Alor Setar and all parties who worked hard to ensure the smooth running of the program.

The competition, which started as early as 8 am, saw the participants showcasing their skills in stirring Bubur Asyura, a traditional porridge synonymous with the celebration of Awal Muharam in the Islamic calendar. 

Various interesting activities were also held such as a coloring contest for children, handicraft exhibitions and charity sales.

The program, which ended around 1.30 pm, successfully achieved its objective of strengthening the relationship among the Muslim community while fostering a spirit of unity and cooperation regardless of race and background. 

It is hoped that it can be continued in the future for mutual prosperity. - KitaReporters/Media Release
