Non-profit cancer charity organisation, Cansurvive Malaysia, announces its upcoming 14th Malaysian International Conference on Holistic Healing in Cancer, 2024.

Scheduled to take place on 13 October 2024 at Berjaya Times Square, Kuala Lumpur, this annual conference is open to the public without charge.

The theme of the conference focuses on “Palliative Care In Cancer”, and is organised to emphasise the importance of holistic healing care for those with burden of care for cancer patients.

As cancer is the third most common cause of death in Malaysia in 2022, rising from fourth place in 2021, palliative care remains a cornerstone of compassionate healthcare for cancer patients.

Dr. C D Siby, the President of Cansurvive Malaysia, shared, “In 2020, Malaysia reported 48,639 new cancer cases, indicating that the number of cases could double to 84,158 by 2040.

"The emphasis of the conference is not just about survival but also about enhancing the quality of life for cancer patients through supportive care methods across physical, emotional, social, and financial aspects.

"Palliative care can be given in conjunction with the patient’s treatment to aid or ease the process of care.

"It is a conversation that is beneficial not just for the patients themselves, but also to those around them.”

The conference will feature various sessions and panels that address different aspects of palliative care, led by a roster of distinguished speakers, comprising of esteemed researchers, medical doctors and leading experts from Malaysia, South Korea and India.

Among them, Dr. Richard Lim, National Head of Subspecialty for Palliative Medicine, Ministry of Health Malaysia, and Dr. Amir Farid Isahak, one of the pioneers practicing Holistic Integrative Medicine in Malaysia.

“We would like to acknowledge and thank our main sponsor Berjaya Corporation Berhad, Executive Chairman Tan Sri Vincent Tan for his unwavering support and sponsorship of the conference.

"Their endless support for our cause plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life of cancer patients,” added Dr Siby.

Cansurvive Malaysia has been hosting annual conferences since 2011, in service to more than just individuals challenged with cancer, but also for their relatives, care providers and anyone interested in the subject matter, free of charge.
